Alex Sheppard
"The words brilliant brilliant brilliant tell you everything you need to know!" - NME
Alex Sheppard is an anti-folk artist based in London. Originally from Norwich, Alex was a 2006 finalist in the EDP’s The Next Big Thing Competition, has been featured numerous times on BBC Radio Norfolk and has performed at East Anglia’s premier gig venues, including the UEA LCR and Norwich Arts Centre.
After a year spent busking around Europe and sharing a stage with a ladyboy Cabaret act in Thailand, she relocated to London in 2007.
Since then, her musical career has gone from strength to strength. She played Latitude Festival in 2008, was featured in NME Magazine and has opened for Dirty Pretty Things at gigs in London.
Alex was also a finalist in the Takamine/Ovation singer-songwriter showcase last year, and was recently featured as Steve Lamacq's Unsigned Act of the Week. She has also been played on Tom Robinson's BBC 6 Radio Show and the Huw Stevens show, as well as being featured by Zane Lowe, who praised her “great lyrics” and declared himself a fan.
